Artist Description:
Growing up in Wilton, the Eager Beaver Race always marked the start of Founders Day festivities for me. I ran the race nearly every year for as long as I can remember, and when I ran cross country in high school, it became our opening race to kick off each new season.

For this piece, I wanted to capture the energy of race morning while including familiar pieces of my hometown - the runners, downtown Wilton, and the traditions that make Founders Day feel like home.

I created the watercolor piece over several days using watercolor, markers, and ink. It was especially meaningful to turn so many of my own memories into a celebration of the community I grew up in.
